With gratitude and pride, President Jeff Allbritten opened Convocation 2026 at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall by celebrating the people whose dedication and shared purpose continue to move Florida SouthWestern State College forward.
There is much to be proud of at 91²Ö¿â.
More than 3,500 students have participated in undergraduate research. More than 500 students have studied abroad. The Buccaneers have earned six NJCAA national championships and 29 conference championships. The college continues to expand academic pathways in fields that matter to students and the Southwest Florida economy. 91²Ö¿â students and employees continue to earn regional, state and national recognition, and the college is playing an increasingly important role in initiatives that shape the future of Florida.
But accomplishments do not happen in isolation.
Behind every achievement is a faculty member who taught, a staff member who supported, a coach who challenged, an advisor who encouraged, a researcher who mentored or a colleague who simply found a way to get the job done.
That is why President Allbritten asked the 91²Ö¿â community a simple question during Convocation:
What makes you proud to be part of 91²Ö¿â?
The conversation that followed reinforced a central message: 91²Ö¿â’s strength is not defined by one program, one campus or one achievement. It comes from the way thousands of individual efforts connect to transform lives through education and strengthen the region.
As a new academic year begins, President Allbritten expressed gratitude for the people who make 91²Ö¿â what it is and optimism for what the college will accomplish together.
